Queensland Endurance Riders Association Inc.

To promote and foster the highest ideals of sportsmanship, horsemanship and spirit of endurance riding
as embodied in our motto 'to complete is to win'
Dear Members,

The QERA State Management Committee has made the decision to suspend all QERA affiliated endurance events until 1 June, 2020.

Current government regulations and policies mean that the conducting of our events cannot be justified under the current circumstances, and these government regulations are predicted to get more rigid and restrictive in the near future.

The QERA SMC will be constantly monitoring the situation and if there is any chance that rides can go ahead before 1 June we will change this decision accordingly.  However, in reality, it appears that the most likely scenario is that the suspension of endurance events may have to be extended.

There are, of course, significant implications for our sport with this decision.  The loss of the social collegiality and spirit of competitiveness that comes with endurance is a big one.  There may need to be dramatic changes to our Ride Calendar when rides are able to resume. The financial loss that our association will have to deal with is also significant.  On this point, I urge you all to assist in maintaining the financial viability of QERA by renewing your membership so that we are better able to meet the fixed costs that must be paid.

Kind regards,
Dick Collyer
President
