Tom Quilty Qualification Member Survey

In April 2026, QERA conducted a comprehensive survey to gather member feedback on the proposed changes to the Tom Quilty (TQ) qualification criteria. In addition to the current qualification pathway, it is proposed that an alternative pathway of a minimum 500km of successful endurarance rides would qualify a rider for the TQ. The goal was to understand the membership's perspective on these potential modifications.

A total of 143 verified members of QERA participated in the survey.

In Favour:  66.4% (95 respondents)

Against: 33.6% (48 respondents)

Methodology & Verification Process

The survey link was distributed via email to all current financial members. To ensure the absolute integrity of the results, all submissions were cross-referenced against a current QERA membership list exported directly from AERASpace.

An initial discrepancy report was generated utilising AI, which was then forwarded—alongside the raw survey data and the official membership list—to our Returning Officer for strict human verification. During this manual review, it was confirmed that the vast majority of flagged discrepancies were simple typos or name mismatches (such as a member using an informal name like "Dick" on the survey, while being registered under their formal name "Richard" in AERASpace).

Following the Returning Officer's verification, exactly two responses were excluded from the final tally: one from a non-current member, and one identical duplicate submission.

Once the data was finalised and verified, all personally identifying information was completely removed to ensure member privacy. The finalised, anonymised results were then forwarded to the State Management Committee (SMC) alongside AI-generated thematic analysis reports for official review.

The published spreadsheet will show that the first response is ID# 6.  Response ID numbers 1 to 5 were test responses by the Web Master to ensure the survey was functioning correctly, and were deleted.
