Horse Registrations & Logbooks

To apply for an initial AERA Novice Horse Logbook, which is required for any novice horse entering an endurance or mini-marathon ride, you must adhere to the following requirements and procedures:

• The application must be lodged by a current member of a Division Association (QERA).
• Complete the Logbook Application Form.
• The Horse Identification may be completed by either the applicant or a veterinarian.  If a veterinarian is completing the ID, now would be a good time to get the horse microchipped if it isn't already chipped.  A Microchip is mandatory to upgrade from a Novice to Endurance logbook.
• The horse's name must be nominated as it is registered with a breed society if applicable.
• The name of the current owner must be nominated.
• Submit the completed form along with the required logbook fee to the Registrar.

Once your horse successfully completes 3 endurance rides, it is eligible for a yellow endurance horse logbook. (Ref: National Rule 46.5).

• Minimum 90 days elapsed since the horse's first successfully completed endurance ride.
• Horse must be microchipped.
• Submit: Novice (blue) logbook, completed Application Form (with ID), Annual/Lifetime Registration Form, and the upgrade fee.

Apply as soon as your current logbook is full. (Ref: National Rule 49.4).

• Submit page 1 of the Logbook Application Form.
• Include copies of the front cover, breeding page, registration sticker page, and both Vet ID pages.

If a logbook has been lost, destroyed, or withheld by a previous owner, you can apply for a replacement.

• Complete a Logbook Application Form.
• Complete a Statutory Declaration detailing the loss.
• Pay the replacement fee.

1. The new owner sends the completed Transfer of Ownership document and fee to the Registrar.
2. The Registrar processes and returns a receipt.
3. The owner completes the "Change of Ownership" page at the back of the logbook.
4. At your next ride, show the Transfer Document and receipt to the Chief Steward, who will sign the logbook.
5. Send a scanned copy of the signed page to the Registrar to update AERASpace.
