QERA Library Use Policy
QERA will pay the cost of posting Library items out to QERA members. Postage costs for the return of library items to the Library must be paid by the borrowing member.
Members from other state ERAs may borrow from the QERA Library but must cover the cost of postage in both directions.
Proof of Membership:
QERA members must provide their current membership number to the QERA Librarian when requesting items. Items will not be sent until this is received.
Members of other state ERAs must provide a photocopy or photograph of their current membership card to the QERA Librarian when requesting items. Items will not be sent until this is received.
Additional information required prior to borrowing:
Members must provide the QERA Librarian with a valid postal address (which must be updated if a member moves while items are on loan), a home and/or mobile phone number and an email address if the member has one.
Items are loaned for a period of 6 weeks, allowing up to 5 working days for postal delivery in either direction. Loans for individual items can be extended upon request unless another member is waiting for that item. Items on extended loan must be returned immediately if requested by another member.
QERA members will retain priority over other state ERA members if an item is heavily requested.
Number of items:
There is no limit on the number of items a member can borrow in one request.
Responsibility – lost or damaged items:
The QERA Librarian will alert the borrowing member when items have been mailed out. Members must confirm receipt of the items with the QERA Librarian when they receive them.
Once items are received by the member they become the responsibility of that member until they are received by the QERA Librarian by return mail. While items are the responsibility of the member, any items damaged or lost by the member or by Australia Post in the return mail must be replaced at the member’s expense.
The member should alert the QERA Librarian when items are in the return mail and the Librarian will confirm receipt with the member once they have been received.
Items lost in the mail while en-route to the member, prior to the member confirming receipt, will be replaced at QERA’s expense.
Items held by the QERA Library may not be copied as this would represent a breach of Copyright.
